Packwood, Washington is a beautiful rural mountain community, but for year-round residents it can be difficult to find stable, sustainable employment. Much of our local economy depends on vacation homes and short-term rental properties, and many families struggle to find opportunities that provide reliable income close to home.

As a young mother, I have experienced firsthand how vulnerable our community can be. Over the past few years, we have faced devastating floods, wildfire threats, power outages, and severe weather events that have affected homes, businesses, and families throughout our area. During these emergencies, one thing became very clear: hundreds of vacation homeowners and absentee property owners had no reliable local resource to check on and protect their homes.

Again and again, we saw homeowners posting on community Facebook pages asking if someone nearby could check on their cabin, look for flood damage, inspect for fire impacts, or make sure their property was safe. That repeated need inspired us to create WatchPoint Security.

My mother and I founded WatchPoint Security to provide professional home watch and property security services for second homes, vacation cabins, and short-term rental properties in Packwood and rural Lewis County. Our services will help homeowners protect their investments while also supporting the local economy through:

Our research showed that there is currently no dedicated home watch service providing this level of protection in our community. Packwood has hundreds of vacation rentals managed by local property management companies as well as many more properties managed through online platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO. The demand already exists—we are creating the trusted local solution.

This business is about more than protecting homes. Vacation homeowners are a vital part of our community. Their investments support local businesses, create jobs, generate tax revenue, and help fund organizations such as our senior center and other nonprofits that serve our aging population. By helping protect these properties, we are helping strengthen the economic foundation of our town.
